Crazy Delicious Candy Bars

Melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookie topped with peanut butter, pretzels, a peanut caramel sauce, and drenched in smooth chocolate for the ultimate candy bar!

Yields 8-10 candy bars
Shortbread Cookie Base Layer:

1  Sugarblocs Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Kit (all of the flour minus chocolate chips, half of the sugar)

3  Tbsp  vegetable oil*

3 Tbsp water

Caramel Layer:

2 Tbsp water

2-3 Tbsp non-dairy milk

1/2 Cup maple syrup

1/2 Cup roasted peanuts

Chocolate Coating:

Chocolate Chips from flour mix + 1/2 cup non dairy chocolate chips (sub 1 cup nondairy chocolate chips)

1 tsp coconut oil


1/2 Cup peanut butter

Approx. 1 Cup Pretzels

Candy bars come in a wide variety of flavors, but this recipe is sure to wow your tastebuds. Combining pretzels, chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel- we’re taking the classic candy bar to a whole new level.

In a bowl, separate the chocolate chips from the flour mix using a sifter. Next, take 1/2 cup of the sugar mix, and combine with the flour mix along with the 3 Tbsp water, and 3 Tbsp oil. Mix together until a crumbly dough is formed, and press into the bottom of a parchment lined 8″x8″ glass/ceramic dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350°F/180°C.

While baking the shortbread, let’s start the caramel layer: In a medium sauce pan, add the 2 Tbsp water, 2-3 Tbsp almond milk, 1/2 cup maple syrup, and leftover sugar mix together. Heat on medium-low until all sugar has dissolved and the mixture is boiling. Add the 1/2 cup peanuts, and continue to cook for about 5-10 minutes.

When the shortbread is done baking, let it cool for 5- 10 minutes. After, spread the 1/2 cup of peanut butter over it, layering the pretzels on top. Pour the hot caramel mixture over as well, and place in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

To melt the chocolate, either use a double boiler system, or microwave the 1 Cup of chocolate chips with the 1 tsp of coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute.

Take the layered shortbread out of the freezer, and cut out bars of desired size. Cover with chocolate, and top with whatever you’d like! I used crushed pretzels and coarse sea salt. You may want to freeze these for around 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
